A new youth football and cheer program in West Baltimore got a special treat at their first Homecoming day from DTLR. The Community Outreach team pulled up with giveaways and water to get the youth through the hot, but exciting day. The Lady Ravens Cheer squad got an extra special surprise, as their Homecoming breakfast spread was sponsored by DTLR! Needless to say the day was filled with family, fun, football and community!!
DTLR x Nike partnered up to launch the "Run For Life" Campaign and DTLR Run Club. On the corner of the E. Monument store location in Baltimore, DTLR set-up a mini block party to get the community out and engaged in this campaign to promote health, wellness and unity. This campaign will also provide a positive outlet for city residents to be a part of something progressive and beneficial to their own well being. Nike provided free trials of their upcoming running shoe, the Joyride, to those that came out to the event and DTLR provided activities and mapped out a one mile run around the community in the Joyride shoe to officially kick things off. DTLR had the pleasure of hosting along side Baltimore City Council President Brandon Scott, the First Annual Kickoff Classic featuring six of the top football programs in Baltimore City. Games started at 1pm , and by the last game start time at 7pm the stands were completely packed with students, alumni and football lovers to watch the two top Varsity teams in the city go head to head, Dunbar vs. Mervo.
DTLR's was proud to be a part of the 5th Annual Cookout for the Homeless that took place in the infamous "Bum Park" in Central Baltimore. Hundreds of donations were received to make this event possible, from food to over 200 pairs of shoes, clothing and hygiene items. Volunteers from DTLR and across the city spent the entire day preparing meals, organizing items and spending time with those that are less fortunate. Barbers were even on site to give free haircuts.... On this particular day, everyone lived up to our motto #DareToLiveRight
Rain dont stop no show!! National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. DTLR sponsored this years activation in the Cedonia neighborhood of Baltimore, MD along side law enforcement officials of the neighborhood PAL center. Cotton candy, snowballs, popcorn, moon bounces, games, music and prizes were distributed to the 500+ residents of the Good Now Apartment Complex.
Tavon Austin of the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore’s own hosted his 5th Annual Game Changers youth football clinic at Woodlawn High School. Over 250 local youth, ages 7-17, broken down into three age groups , 5-8, 9-12, 13-17, hit the field to condition with local youth, high school and college coaches. Tavon did his annual 40 yard dash race with each age group to see who the next rising star would be. Dicks Sporting Goods provided gift cards to the three individuals that beat Tavon in the 40 and DTLR provided the sounds, shirts and lunch for participants.
With a city plagued with high homicide rates and a drug culture that is unruly, an organization by the name of 'Safe Streets' emerged and set up shop in a small building next to a church, just across the way from the Pennsylvania Triangle Park in West Baltimore. This group of natives call themselves "Violence Interrupters" and their mission is solely to diffuse situations that could result in a violent outcome throughout different neighborhoods. DTLR's Community Outreach Team and DJ's Scottie B and Tiara Laniece pulled up to a community event hosted by Safe Streets, with the soundtrack for the event and over 250 pairs of children sneakers to be distributed to those in attendance. In support of former first lady Michelle Obama's College Signing Day initiative, we partnered with GreiBo Media and other sponsors including the Mayor's & State's Attorney's offices for this program held at Royal Farms Arena. Thousands of high school seniors from across the city came together to celebrate reaching graduation and to be encouraged to make sound choices for their future.
Students were met with support from volunteers, on-site college reps, and several organizations serving as resources to them. Not to mention performances by Baltimore artists Lil Key, Kondwani Fidel, Peso Da Mafia, and Creek Boyz. With the youth choir from Cardinal Shehan performing as the headliners!
Since 1981, Bea Gaddy Family Center has provided food for 1000’s of Baltimore residents year around, especially during the holidays. And for the past 15 years DTLR has been committed to supporting their efforts to feed families during Thanksgiving. In the days leading up to the holiday, the center accepts drop off donations to help run their annual meal give away; taking place this year at Baltimore’s Patterson Park. The Tuesday before Thanksgiving, our staff started the day on-site receiving, sorting, and packing donations as people stopped by with cans, turkeys, and boxed goods.
