Since 1981, Bea Gaddy Family Center has provided food for 1000’s of Baltimore residents year around, especially during the holidays. And for the past 15 years DTLR has been committed to supporting their efforts to feed families during Thanksgiving. In the days leading up to the holiday, the center accepts drop off donations to help run their annual meal give away; taking place this year at Baltimore’s Patterson Park. The Tuesday before Thanksgiving, our staff started the day on-site receiving, sorting, and packing donations as people stopped by with cans, turkeys, and boxed goods. The day ended with us joining organizations apart of the local National Pan Hellenic Council at St. Elizabeth’s Church in carving and preparing the turkeys we had packed throughout the day. We left exhausted but fulfilled in knowing that we had done our part in making the holiday possible for hundreds of people and their families this season.
