Mission 1865: The Mission Continues....

The 2020 Mission 1865 campaign officially wrapped on March 1st. As a result of our efforts in conjunction with our community partners, we were able to accomplish all goals set out for #Mission1865.

Teacher Contest: During the entire month of February, we requested that teachers nationwide upload their BHM classroom decorations to our DTLR page for a chance for win a school supply shopping spree and party for their class. We received over 100 submissions and will be awarding 14 teachers in late March! Search #Mission1865 on Instagram to see the 2020 submissions.

Field Trips: We were able to sponsor the "Degrees b4 Diapers" mentoring group with GYRLS In Da Hood Foundation in Chicago. DTLR payed for transportation to the Harriet Tubman play at a black owned theater in Chicago and supplied the girls with "I Am Black History In The Making" t-shirts....because, well, representation matters!!

We also partnered with NAACP Atlanta and sponsored 40 students to attend Selma Jubilee in Selma, Alabama. Transportation, lunch, snacks and shirts were provided as students were able to tour some historic landmarks during the Civil Rights Movement and attend a "march" across the Edmund Pettus Bridge on "Bloody Sunday" (March 1st).

Community Clean-ups: Our marketing reps were active in linking with youth in their community and getting up and out to beautify their neighborhoods.

The Mission will continue throughout the year, as DTLR will continue to clean up communities and sponsor culturally educational trips for youth!!
