MLK Day of Service

Baltimore/DC

In DC, a young lady decided she wanted to gather her closest friends, classmates, teachers and family to celebrate a day of service. DTLR assisted 6 year old Queenie Howard with making 300 lunch bags for the local shelter. Brown paper bags were designed by her close friends with messages of hope and drawings of love, and then filled with sandwiches, fresh fruit and snacks for the cold January lunch day. Listen to Queenie's message below:

DC artist/painter Cierra Lynn showed love to a Baltimore recreation center in an East Baltimore neighborhood. Outlining messages of inspiration, courage and honor, Cierra laid a foundation of love on the walls of the Cecil Kirk Recreation Center for the community youth, Recs & Parks staff, and even the Mayor of Baltimore to come and fill in. The group gathered to create a mural that honored their city and provides daily motivation and inspiration to every youth that lays eyes on it. After the event, Cierra was honored with a proclamation from the City of Baltimore for spreading her light with its youth.
